Machinists lose another Delta election, charge interference

The 700 workers “were the latest victims in a string of illegal interference by Delta Air Lines in union representation elections,” the IAM said in a statement.

Of 607 votes cast, 439 were against unionization and 166 were in favor with two write-ins, the National Mediation Board said.

The IAM is investigating allegations of widespread illegal election interference in this election and a previous election for 13,000 Delta Fleet Service workers.

The National Mediation Board unanimously found Delta guilty of illegal election interference earlier this year in an election for Flight Simulator Technicians.

The loss is the third at Delta in recent weeks. The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA narrowly failed in its bid to represent flight attendants. The elections follow the merger of the largely-union Northwest Airlines with the mostly-nonunion Delta two years ago.
