A Minneapolis couple will say "I do" before family and thousands of their closest union friends on Sunday, June 23, in Las Vegas. Six thousand delegates and guests to the 35th International Convention of AFSCME, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, will celebrate the marriage of member David Troy and his fiancee Amy Finseth at Bally's Las Vegas Events Center.
David, an activist and member of AFSCME Council 14 Local 2822 in Minneapolis, said he is pleased and proud that the union's convention will serve as the backdrop for his wedding. "AFSCME is just like one big happy family and when I proposed the idea of getting married at the convention to President McEntee, he was more than happy to allow us to begin our lives together with our brothers and sisters in the labor movement in attendance."David and Amy's wedding is the first to take place during an AFSCME International Convention. The ceremony will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a reception.
AFSCME represents more than 1.3 million public service and health care workers nationwide.
