Organizing Institute trainings are designed to equip member activists and organizers with the basic skills of union organizing. Skills covered include:

• One-on-one communication;
• Moving workers to take action;
• Leadership identification and development;
• Basic elements of a union organizing campaign.

Any union, state federation or central labor council affiliated with the national AFL-CIO may sponsor a participant in the Organizing Institute training. Sponsorship forms are due by May 12. The registration fee is $125 per participant, which includes training materials and meals for the weekend. Personal checks will not be accepted.

All participants must be pre-registered. All fees must be paid by the start of the training, unless other arrangements are made in advance.

The training will take place at the offices of the Minnesota AFL-CIO, 175 Aurora Ave., St. Paul. For registration information, contact Carol Edelson at the AFL-CIO at 202-320-1410 or cedelson@aflcio.org.
