Both the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra are continuing their tradition of free outdoor concerts during the summer.
The 68th season of free outdoor concerts presented by the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra begins Saturday, July 1, with a 7:30 p.m. performance at the Lake Harriet Bandshell.
The members of the Pops Orchestra are members of the Twin Cities Musicians Union Local 30-73. Among the finest musicians in the region, Pops members also perform with the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera Orchestra, and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.
The Pops’ Lake Harriet concerts will continue through July 30, with performances Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5:30 p.m.
The Minneapolis Pops Orchestra also will perform three free concerts for seniors weekday mornings July 12, July 18 and July 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis. The Pops will perform July 25 at 6:30 pm at Elliot Park, 1000 E 14th Street, Minneapolis.
The program for the summer includes pieces by Beethoven, Sibelius and Wagner as well as contemporary composers. View schedule and program information at the Pops Orchestra website.
The Minnesota Orchestra’s “Symphony for the Cities” series will present four free outdoor concerts in July:
- Monday, July 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Harriet Bandshell in Minneapolis.
- Wednesday, July 5, at 8:30 p.m. at the Hilde Performance Center in Plymouth (located behind the City Hall/Public Safety Building complex).
- Thursday, July 6, at 8:00 p.m. at the Winona Lake Park Bandshell in Winona.
The Orchestra’s “Symphony for the Cities” series concludes Sunday, July 9 with a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Lakefront Park Bandshell in Hudson, Wisconsin.
