People of Color Union Members to celebrate Juneteenth

The Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation’s People of Color Union Members caucus welcomes everyone to the Twin Cities “Juneteenth” celebration,  Saturday, June 17 at North Mississippi Regional Park, 4900 Mississippi Ct. (take 49th Ave. No. exit off of Interstate 94).

The POCUM festivities at Juneteenth will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature fun activities for all ages, games and barbecue.

“Juneteenth” commemorates the day in June, 1865 when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, near the end of the U.S. Civil War and brought news of  President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation and the end of slavery.
