The Minneapolis for $15 Coalition will host a rally Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the University of Minnesota to pressure the City Council to adopt a $15 minimum wage for all workers in Minneapolis.
The event starts at 4:30 p.m. at Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank of the University’s Minneapolis campus.
“We’re building an independent movement to end poverty wages in Minneapolis,” organizers announced. “Join us to demand that City Hall pass our proposal for $15 an hour!”
According to a City of Minneapolis study released last month, a $15 minimum wage would:
- Immediately benefit more than 71,000 workers, almost half of whom are people of color;
- Dramatically increase income for 29 percent of working single mothers; and
- Cause little to no negative impact on umemployment or business costs.
