Registration open for Union Leadership Program

The University of Minnesota Labor Education Service is accepting applications for the 2017-2018 Minnesota Union Leadership Program.

Now in its eighth year, MULP helps unions develop and strengthen leaders, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to address the challenges facing the labor movement.

Through six in-depth sessions scheduled over nine months, participants study the labor movement (past, present, and future) while engaging in critical thinking about how workers succeed in building a more just and equitable society. Emerging and established union leaders build relationships and network with their fellow class members and others from the labor movement, learning from each other’s experiences and knowledge.

The first sessions will be held Oct. 25-27 at Ruttger’s Bay Lake lodge and conference center near Brainerd. The remaining four sessions will be on the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota.

Individuals must be sponsored by their labor union or a related organization to participate. Enrollment is limited to ensure a high-quality educational experience. People of color, women, LGBTQ people, and those under the age of 35 are strongly encouraged to apply.

The MULP brochure and application form are available on the LES website or by calling 612-624-5020. The deadline to apply is July 14.
