The class will be offered on five consecutive Tuesdays, Feb. 13 to March 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the IBEW Local 110 hall, 1300 Conway St., St. Paul. Cost is $135.
The course provides an introduction to the Spanish language for Building Trades unions. Focus will be on developing a working vocabulary of Spanish that will include words to facilitate communication with members about Building Trades issues. Participants also will discuss cultural issues that are crucial for effective representation and organizing of Spanish-speaking construction workers.
Instructor is Brendan Cummins, a labor lawyer with the firm Miller-O\'Brien. The class is being offered by the Labor Education Service in cooperation with the Minneapolis and St. Paul Building and Construction Trades Councils.
