Steger to speak at program on Copenhagen climate summit

Doors open at 2:30 p.m. and the “Perspectives on the Copenhagen Climate Summit” program begins at 3 pm. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Minneapolis Central Library\’s Auditorium, 300 Nicollet Mall, downtown Minneapolis.
 
Steger will speak live via video from Copenhagen. Then members of Midwest Youth Delegates of Expedition Copenhagen will answer questions live by video. The UN Climate Change Conference runs from Dec. 7-18 in Copenhagen, Denmark, with more than 100 world leaders slated to participate including U.S. President Barack Obama.

Following the Steger and student presentations, “The Age of Stupid,” a new drama-documentary from Britain, will be screened. Set in 2055, the film looks back to 2008 and asks, “Why didn\’t we stop climate change while we had the chance?” It is 92 minutes and is rated for ages 12 and up.

The League of Women Voters-Minneapolis will lead a post-film discussion. The program is free and open to all.
