Just before Thanksgiving 2016, Lakeville Motor Express abruptly shut down operations, immediately putting 95 people out of work and failing to pay their last two weeks of wages and benefits.
The workers, who are represented by Teamsters Local 120, will rally Monday, Nov. 27, at the terminal of Finish Line Express, 50 14th St. NW, New Brighton. The rally will run from 5 to 7 p.m.
The workers, who say they are owed $524,000, charge Lakeville with siphoning assets to two other operations -- LME and Finish Line -- "with actual fraudulent intent” to avoid paying employees’ wages. Many of the workers had decades of experience with the company.
