A 'solidarity fundraiser' for members of Teamsters Local 120 will take place June 2 from 7 p.m. to midnight at the UAW Local 879 hall, 2191 Ford Parkway, St. Paul.
The 'Stop Union Busting' event, sponsored by Local 879, will benefit two groups of workers from Local 120 - carhaulers who have been out of work since December, when General Motors canceled its contract with Allied Systems and gave the business to non-union Sierra Mountain Express - and drivers and dockworkers who have been maintaining an unfair labor practices strike against Overnite Transportation since October 1999. The fundraiser will include raffles, music, food, drink and speeches.
