The University of Minnesota Labor Education Service has produced videos documenting the first legs of the "Journey for Justice" by locked-out workers at American Crystal Sugar and Cooper Tire.
Four members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco & Grain Millers union from Crystal Sugar and four members of United Steelworkers Local 207L embarked on a six-day, six-state trip Wednesday from Fargo, North Dakota.
Along the way, rallies and other events highlight the seven-month lockout of 1,300 Crystal Sugar workers in Minnesota, North Dakota and Iowa and the nearly three-month lockout of 1,051 workers at Cooper Tire in Findlay, Ohio.
On the second day of the journey, the Steelworkers and Cooper Tire announced a tentative contract settlement had been reached that could end that lockout. Union members will vote on the contract Monday, the same day the Journey for Justice culminates in a large rally in Findlay.
