Union volunteers from the St. Croix Valley Central Labor Union Council teamed up with members of Students Against Drunk Driving to rake the lawns of elderly people and people with disabilities.
Saturday, Oct. 27, was 'Rake A Difference Day' sponsored by the St. Croix Area United Way and Community Volunteer Services. When labor volunteers arrived to see a large lawn with lots of trees and leaves, they were very pleased to see the four high school students already busy raking. With their help, the job became much easier, quicker and more fun. Union members and students completed the job feeling good about their new connections and that they had provided a very useful service.
The program was part of volunteer efforts that will take place across the United States for national "Make a Difference Day."
