Working people talk about economy in public radio report

Rob McKenzie, president of the UAW local at the Ford plant in St. Paul, and Mike Goldman, dislocated worker labor liaison for the Minnesota AFL-CIO, are among the people interviewed by Minnesota Public Radio for a report on the state’s economy.

Entitled ‘The Economics of ?Public Panic,” the story was done by reporter Mark Zdechlik. It aired Jan. 16 but a transcript and audio version are available on the Minnesota Public Radio website.

“There’s a lot of concern about the future; a lot of rumors about which plants are going to be closing,” McKenzie says in the report.

‘I’ve been associated with the dislocated worker program for more than 10 years and I have never seen the level of (layoff) activity that we’re experiencing now before in Minnesota,” Goldman says.
